The House of Hope and Peace

The House of Hope and Peace helps children deal with grief and loss.  It is a safe space in which children have the on-going experience of being heard.  Children from Project H.O.M.E.’s Rowan Homes and the community meet weekly in groups, based on their age.  They are provided the opportunity to express their feelings and learn how to deal with their previously unexpressed pain. The program employs a variety of approaches, including the arts (crafts and music), play, physical expression and group discussion.  Children are empowered to express their feelings and experience being heard and their pain taken seriously.

The program is staffed by a full-time physician assistant who collaborates with physicians from Jefferson University Department of Family and Community Medicine.
