Occupational Services assists Project H.O.M.E.'s mission by working with formerly homeless people to enable them to reach their fullest potential as individuals by supporting them in employment and educational opportunities that are based on recovery principles.

Recovery Principles

According to Dr. Arthur Evans, Director of the Department of Behavioral Health in Philadelphia, recovery principles are "the process of restoring or developing a positive and meaningful sense of identity apart from one's condition and then rebuilding a life despite or within the limitations imposed by the condition."
Recovery Principles include:

  • Empowerment
Through a system of portfolio management, individuals direct their own progress by setting goals goals and plans to achieve these goals. Portfolios are a tracking tool for individuals and a way to keep and review of all of their work to date.
