Kate's Place: Unique Housing in Center City

Philadelphia currently suffers from a serious affordable housing crisis. The number of people requiring housing assistance has grown, but the availability of affordable housing units has shrunk, especially in Center City. Project H.O.M.E. has developed Kate's Place to help address this precise gap in Philadelphia's housing inventory. This residence is an eleven-story building in the Rittenhouse Square area of Center City Philadelphia that offers 144 Single Room Occupancy (SRO) apartments for low- to moderate-income individuals.

Amenities include:

  • Fully furnished
  • Utilities including air conditioning
  • Microwave and refrigerator in each unit
  • Private bath
  • On-site laundry room
  • On-site library with internet access
  • 24-hour reception
  • All units cable- and phone-ready
  • Shared kitchen on each floor
All tenants have access to services offered by Project H.O.M.E. at other locations (including adult learning, employment counseling, substance abuse and mental health referrals, etc.) There is a full time Resource Coordinator who provides referrals and facilitates access to these opportunities as well as to community organizations and agencies based on the needs and requests of the tenants.

Kate's Place is fully accessible to persons with disabilities. We have nine apartments designated for mobility impaired persons, and 9 apartments designated for hearing impaired persons.
