Supportive Services

At every stage throughout Project H.O.M.E.'s continuum of care, residents have access to a range of supportive services to assist them in their recovery journey towards reaching their full potential as individuals and community members. Supportive services are tailored to the specific needs and goals of each resident. They include:

  • Health Care: On-site health care is available at several of our locations. Health education services are also available to our residents. These services are provided by Philadelphia Health Management Corporation and Jefferson University Medical College.

  • Mental Health services: All of our residents with mental-health issues are linked to mental health services through several providers including day programs. Project H.O.M.E. case managers coordinate with the staff of these programs to assure continuity of care and effectiveness of the services.

  • Recovery services: A part-time staff addictions counselor works with Project H.O.M.E. residents who are dealing with substance abuse/ dependence issues. Residents attend a variety of outpatient recovery programs, treatment centers, and support groups to assist them in their recovery.

  • Education: Project H.O.M.E.'s Adult Learning Program provides a range of educational opportunities, including GED preparation, basic literacy, career track training, financial education, lifelong learning, computer training, and arts programs.

  • Employment: Because employment is a critical component of overcoming homelessness, Project H.O.M.E. residents are offered an array of employment opportunities including job training, employment readiness, and supported employment. Many of our residents work in custodial or reception jobs at our various locations. Many others work at our two businesses—the Back Home Café & Catering or Our Daily Threads Thrift Shop.

  • Advocacy: Project H.O.M.E.'s Education and Advocacy Department provides an important piece of the supportive services through voter education and advocacy, various lobbying efforts, and advocacy committee meetings in which residents can have a voice in shaping public policies. These services help to promote self-determination, self-esteem, and a reconnection to the broader community.
