Untying the Knots

From Al Dia News

Project HOME announced it will open a public art installation inspired by one of Pope Francis’ favorite religious images, Mary, Undoer of Knots. The organization commissioned artist Meg Saligman to create the installation as a way of drawing attention to the stories of those in need.

An unusual, interactive art exhibit is coming to the grounds of The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul just in time for Pope Francis’ visit at the end of September.

The exhibit is based on the Baroque painting “Mary Untier of Knots” — which shows the Virgin Mary undoing a knotted ribbon.

From The Oregonian

A knotty exhibit being created for Pope Francis' upcoming trip to Philadelphia will honor the pontiff's teachings by letting visitors acknowledge the challenges in their daily lives.

The installation, to be built in the shape of a grotto next to the city's Roman Catholic cathedral, is inspired by a painting called "Mary, Undoer of Knots" that holds special meaning for the pope.
