Celebrating Motherhood at Project HOME

I honor my Mother with a Gift of Love

"Having a safe place to call home for my son has been a gift.” - Shardé, Rowan Homes.

Shardé and her five-year-old son came to Rowan Homes after almost two years of living without stable housing. "Not having a foundation was scary and stressful. I wanted more for my son and for myself,” shares Shardé.

For Shardé, the first night at Rowan Homes felt like the light at the end of the tunnel. “There is so much support here, from childcare to educational resources for me, I don’t feel alone,” says Shardé with a smile. “I’m excited for our future.”

Mom Always Said to Be Kind!

Created by our wonderful partners at the Honickman Foundation, our annual Mother’s Day campaign is a celebration that connects your family with the 36 families across Rowan Homes. Your kindness helps ensure that mothers and caregivers who have faced, or are at risk of facing homelessness, have a safe and stable place to call home.

“We are a community of mothers here,” says Shardé. “We’re a community that supports each other and looks out for one another. The people at Project HOME are so dedicated to what they do, they really care about us.”

Every family at Rowan Homes benefits from permanent supportive housing, along with real-time access to case management, family counseling, recovery services, and educational support for children. The Honickman Learning Center Comcast Technology Labs is just a quick walk up the block that was fittingly renamed Sister Mary Scullion Way last summer. Shardé’s son is excited for the HLCCTL’s summer camp program this year and making more friends.

Honoring the Love Your Mother Has Given You

Because of you, stories like Shardé’s are just beginning.

When you make a gift for Mother’s Day, you are empowering mothers at Project HOME. Your generosity will support them as they continue their education, train for employment, and spend quality, well-deserved time with their children.

You’ll have a special opportunity to show someone special in your life just how much they mean to you in return. With each gift you make, we’ll send a Mother’s Day card to your mother or to anyone you love or wish to honor.* Your generosity today helps create the steady foundation families need to build brighter futures tomorrow.

Looking back at the year she has called Rowan home, Shardé remembers her first night in her new apartment. “We were so happy and felt so welcomed,” Shardé says with a smile. “We ordered take out and watched a movie on our couch.” The name of the movie? Home.
