Taste of HOME Celebration

Michael Gainer

On Friday, June 20, several hundred residents, alumni, volunteers, and current or former staff flooded two blocks of Fairmount Avenue for “A Taste of HOME,” our festive 25th Anniversary community celebration. Adults and youth enjoyed great food, music and dancing, art projects – and the gratification of all being part of an amazing quarter century of this mission of ending homelessness.

The performances were top notch as the North Philly Foot Stompers - coming off of a first-place finish in a recent national competition - delighted the crowd, and Bernard Connor (aka N.A.R.D.) and Terrell Williams (aka RELL.I.VENT) of Inner Power Records provided a powerful punctuation to the night's festivities. The Project HOME Choir returned to end the event with a flourish.

Thanks go to the performers in our "Project HOME Idol" competition - and congratulations to George Preston on finishing first with his rendition of the Temptations' "Beauty is Only Skin Deep."
