Stephen Klein Wellness Center Welcomes a New Patient Portal

At the heart of the Stephen Klein Wellness Center (SKWC) is a deep commitment to providing high-quality, accessible healthcare to Philadelphia’s underserved communities. That commitment is now taking a major leap forward with the launch of their new patient portal which will be available on our website and through the application called Healow. This digital tool is designed to streamline healthcare services and empower patients like never before.
“We’re really excited about this,” says Erika Schellinger, the acting Director of Operations and Revenue Manager at Project HOME and a key player in the application's inception.
“This portal is going to change the way our patients interact with their healthcare.” - Erika Schellinger
The portal, a user-friendly and secure online platform, offers patients 24/7 access to their medical records, appointment scheduling, prescription refills, and direct communication with healthcare providers. The goal? To break down barriers that often prevent individuals from receiving timely and consistent medical care.
“For so many of our patients, life is complicated enough. They’re juggling work, family, and other responsibilities,” Erika explains. “By giving them the ability to schedule appointments, check lab results, and message their doctors anytime, anywhere, we’re making healthcare one less stressor in their lives.”
The impact of the portal extends beyond mere convenience—it is a game-changer for patients who face transportation challenges, time constraints, or other obstacles that make traditional in-person visits difficult. “We serve a community that has historically been overlooked and underserved,” Erika shares. “This tool gives them more control over their healthcare journey, which is incredibly empowering.”

In addition to patient benefits, the portal also enhances efficiency for SKWC’s medical staff, allowing them to provide more personalized and proactive care. “It’s a win-win,” Erika says enthusiastically. “Our team can focus more on patient care rather than administrative tasks, and our patients get the support they need faster.”
Since sharing the news about the new portal with patients, they've received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Many appreciate the transparency and ease of access, noting that the portal has helped them stay on top of their health in ways they never could before. “One of our longtime patients told me, ‘For the first time, I feel like I’m in control of my own health,’” Erika recalls. “That’s exactly why we do this.”
The SKWC patient portal is more than just a technological advancement—it’s a testament to the center’s dedication to health equity. By leveraging innovation to better serve their community, staff members are ensuring that quality healthcare is within reach for all, regardless of socioeconomic status or background.
For those interested in enrolling in the portal, SKWC staff are available to provide guidance and support. “We want everyone to feel comfortable using it,” Erika assures. “If you need help, we’re here. This is about making healthcare work for you.”
With this bold step forward, SKWC is proving once again that compassionate, patient-centered care is not just their mission—it’s their reality. Check out the new patient portal here.
