"Mindfulness" by Africa Johnson

Like you I am human
My thoughts are not who I am
Just a mere reflection of my past life
My mental illness is not who I am
I am strong minded
I am kind
Just like that it's all in my mind

Listen to "Mindfulness" by Africa Johnson

"Mindfullness" was written for a class activity asking learners to respond to "Like You" by Roque Dalton.

(2)
"America" by Sherma Clarke

From afar I really enjoyed your splendor
You owd & awed me
I had a dream of stepping high
When my foot went down down I went spiraling into nothingness
Death how far away are you
Time can you hold on for a second
How does someone rest their mind
From down herein ain't that bad
Jesus saves
America do you have a hand to stretch out
To my children that has trodden upon

"America"  was written for a class activity asking learners to respond to "I, Too" by Langston Hughes and "America" by Allen Ginsberg.

Listen to an untitled poem by Janae Martin

Listen to "The Cockroaches" by Lisa McMillan
